Sweatpants, otherwise known as joggers in the fashion world, have been a trend on the rise for a few years. Lately, sweatpants/joggers have made a comeback at the gym with the launch of Beyonce’s Ivy Park and the return of 90’s fashion staples like Calvin Kline and Adidas. We may have thought we left those baggy sweats in the past, but classic silhouettes are back and, some have postulated, are projected to replace the yoga pant. This blogger doesn’t believe that will happen. Men and women, alike, love the way women look in yoga pants, so fear not, you don’t have to replace all of your skimpy, not to mention, expensive, Lulu’s.
Sweatpants are a quick and easy gym look, but styling joggers, for a night out or *gasp* a date can be tricky. Challenging, thought it may be, I love, love, love this look and not just because it is kind to my post-holiday, post-baby body.
How to Style Sweatpants/Joggers
Wear them in before you wear them out! Before wearing joggers out on the town, wear them for a night in. Sweats with “saggy-butt” are not so attractive. It’s a good idea to leave the tags on for this part too because if they don’t retain their shape well, you’ll want to return them. I have always had good luck with American Giant joggers. The Skinny Track Pant is my favorite. I wore the skinny track pant for two days straight last week and they still retained their shape. Sweatpants at work is just one of the perks of blogging.
Choose accessories wisely. A clutch and shiny jewelry instantly glam up a simple look. I also like pairing sweats with heels too.
Don’t limit yourself to t-shirts. While the perfect tee is a great look with joggers, button-downs and blouses can pack a punch.
Have fun! Joggers are often an overlooked item, but I always get a lot of compliments when I wear them out. Not only do they look stylish, I can move freely, feel sexy and I don’t have to worry about my post baby belly!
