How to Fake Being Rested

How to Fake Being Well Rested

It’s time to start adulting again and while you may be chanting your new mantra, “New Year, new me!” in your head, the holidays are probably still on your heels, or in my case, my hips.  If you’re in the same boat as me, you didn’t sleep enough, ate too much junk food, drank too much, caught a cold and now it’s back to work.

I love you guys, but I don’t really want to show you my dry, overtired, designer bag toting eyes, so how do I do it?

The key is taking care of yourself after the fact (you’re going to hit those holiday parties, dates, late nights with family and hometown friends, etc…), so embrace it, treat it and when all else fails, cover it up!

  1.  Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads, $18

These slippery little pads are like gold to my dark circles.  After washing my face, I leave these guys under my eyes for 20 minutes and BAM, brighter more awake eyes.

  2. Sephora Collection Eye Mask, $5

Sephora offers a variety of eye masks for your specific eye needs.  For tired eyes, try the Lotus mask or the Green Tea Mask.  (products with caffeine are your friend if you are prone to puffy under eye circles).

    3.  The True Cream Aqua Bomb by belif, $38.

This holy grail of moisturizer was gifted to me by my bestie.  I could not be more thankful.  My skin gets oh so dry when I travel to the midwest to see family.  There’s nothing quite like the affect of Chicago wind blistering my face all day.  I use this cream nightly; it glides on thin and leaves my skin feeling supple and hydrated.

4.  Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate.  Of course if you’re of drinking age, you know the importance of getting enough water every day.  Try getting the first 8 oz in before coffee.

5.  Brace yourself for an ice bath.

Relax, just your face.  Super models have been dunking their faces in ice water for many years.  The icy shock gives your face that post sleigh ride glow.  Short of dunking your face, you could also use an ice cube to massage your money maker.

6.  Reach for your best highlighter.  Your skin is dull and lackluster, so a good highlighter goes a long way.

Bobbi Brown highlighting powder, $46 is my absolute favorite powder highlighter.  When my skin feels well hydrated, I reach for a powder highlighter, but if I’m feeling the need to use more liquid products, I’ll opt for Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm, $39.
