Camera angles can distinguish between slim and Sasquatch. Do you know your most flattering angle?
This seems to be a favorite on social media. Women say this shot is more flattering. Shots from above are more flattering to the jaw line and face, but the rest of the body appears disproportionately shorter and wider, the higher the camera goes. Solution: lower the camera and get comfortable with tricks to flatter your jawline.
Barely Above Eyeline
Placing the camera just above your eyeline still flatters the jawline naturally without distorting the body as much.
Placing the camera at eyeline is typically the most flattering angle for any body type given that there is no distortion. If you find it difficult to strike a face-flattering pose straight on, take a look at my post: How to be More Photogenic: Part 1.
Just Below Eyeline
This angle is most flattering for petite women. The body is slightly distorted to appear taller.
This angle is a bit creative. The body is disproportionately lengthened. The low angle, nearly on the floor can be very flattering, however, it can also be unflattering depending on posture.
